Hanna Malyar, Ukraine's deputy defense minister, told Le Figaro that we should not imagine Ukraine's counter-offensive as a process that would begin one fine morning at a specific hour, preferring to speak of "a sum of complex actions". According to her, the offensive is already underway in several directions including that of Bakhmut, where Ukrainian troops are "advancing", "which allows a breakthrough". The deputy minister says that if Russia has the advantage of quantity, for the number of soldiers and armament, the Ukrainians have the advantage of motivation because they are fighting at home for a just cause. Malyar expressed appreciation for the help provided by the West, especially the France, saying that the Russian Federation is helping to seal the union between Ukraine and its allies through the growing horror of its actions.
